Onondaga County Parks seeks a full-time, professional-level Superintendent for Beaver Lake Nature Center. Established in 1970, Beaver Lake Nature Center is a 670-acre park and high-use visitor center featuring 10 miles of trails, seasonal recreational opportunities including canoeing, snowshoeing, cross-county skiing, and more than 400 programs and special events annually. The Nature Center welcomes approximately 300,000 visitors each year.
The Nature Center Superintendent is responsible for advancing the mission of Beaver Lake Nature Center: to foster local and global stewardship of nature through diverse recreational and educational opportunities that enhance visitors’ awareness, appreciation, and understanding of the natural world. Responsibilities include providing vision, leadership, and overall management of the park and its staff; administering the budget; overseeing land and facilities management; oversight of educational and recreational programs; guiding long-range planning initiatives; and collaborating closely with the Friends of Beaver Lake, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, to align priorities and support the Nature Center’s mission.The ideal candidate will be a highly visible, energetic leader with a demonstrated passion for people, nature, education, conservation, and environmental stewardship.
